Anthony Bourdain is in Manila

Couldn't believe my eyes too when I read that Anthony Bourdain is here in Manila. Well it's about time he paid us a visit, hehe! Keith is a big fan and watches his show everytime.

Read what Chef Tony has to say about the Filipino fans. Anthony Bourdain's blog.

Here he is with Chef Gene Gonzalez of Cafe Ysabel.

I would love to snag a copy of his itinerary. Any mall tours? Hahaha Would love to get an autograph too hehe.

Oh, Bobby Chinn was spotted in Salcedo Market last Saturday. Sayang, I'm no longer in Makati.

Happy 7th birthday Ron

We attended my cousin slash inaanak's 7th birthday party at Village East Clubhouse. It was well-attended and all of our relatives in that side were present.

Ang daming food, as in tignan mo lng, mabubusog ka na hahaha! I ate cheese sticks, chicken lollipop and the home-made choco cake that my tita bakes - ay grabeh super sarap neto. I also had chicken salad, Charlie's pritson and a slice of pizza from Pizza Hut. Aside from the catered rice, pasta and the different kinds of ulam, there were also foodcarts like Buy The Bucket, cotton candy and sorbetero. There was also a seafood bar/grille that serves super sarap sugpo and tuna. Hindi ko na nga na-try but Keith feasted on them. Free flowing din ang softdrinks and beer.

Their program hosts were two clowns and one of them did a ventri act - si Kermit the Frog yung puppet nya. Pure Tagalog the spiel. Dumating din si Mickey Mau mascot - pinoy version ni Mickey Mouse hehe. Dami kids and dami din prizes, toys and ahem yung lootbag nila looks very familiar hahaha same ng lootbag from the twins birthday :P Of course, tuwang tuwa nanaman our yayas kase they were able to bring home lootbags and balloons.

Keith with Carlos getting curious with the SanMig Light. Oh-ow.

The kids were invited to swim at the pool after the program, but we decided to stay na lang inside the clubhouse and play with my younger cousins. It's always fun to have family gatherings. Happy birthday Ron! May the good Lord continue to shower you with His blessings. Wishing you more birthdays to come! :D

Happy Birthday Ires!

Today, we celebrated Ires' 31st birthday at my parents house. It was a potluck celebration. I cooked beef with broccoli, chopseuy and rice. Chelley brought andoks chicken, Peen brought lumpia and lechon, Gyp brought special bibingka and Ires brought cake. Dong brought her laptop with Kabuki photos. Missing today's event are Polly and Malou. Sayang coz all-girls pa naman kame. Once in a blue moon lang mangyari na absent lahat ang boys hehehe.

To Ires, we wish you good health, a happy family life and success in your chosen career. May God continue to bless you and may you have many many more birthdays to come! We love you very much! :)

After lunch, we watched The Fast and The Furious on cable while burning the pics on CD. Dong went crazy over Vin Diesel. The other girls were super kilig din. Hey did yah know he has a twin brother?! Anyway, she got all excited when I told her there's a new Fast and The Furious movie, all-original cast, dubbed as "The Fast And The Furious 4: London Pursuit". Tapos she asked us - napanuod nyo na ba ang Mac Spain. HAHAHAHA! She meant, Max Payne. Nabulol ang lola nyo. Super funny talaga, haaay peen, walang ganyan sa States! :D

Tropic Thunder

Carlos was given the go signal to go home tomorrow so Keith and I went to watch a movie for that much needed R&R. We watched Tropic Thunder.

It stars Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr, among others. Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey appears in the fim too. I also saw Jennifer Love Hewitt, John Voight, Toby McGuire and Lance Bass (of N'Sync).

The movie was sooo kulit. Some scenes were so OA talaga.. it was hilarious hehehe. One scene made me laugh so hard i cried. I am so mababaw, hahaha! It's not something I would recommend to the kids though. But it's a fun film and makes you laugh out loud. :D

Pneumonia not again

Same time last year, Carlos was confined in the hospital for Pneumonia. It was his very first confinement since being born, only three months old. You bet I was distraught.

Last night, he had an asthma attack. At 12:30AM, I nebulized him with 2 Ventolin nebules, 30 mins apart, but that didnt help. I decided to take him to the ER. At 2:00AM, he was nebulized with combivent and two ventolin nebules, 15 mins apart. He developed slight fever (38.6 degrees) and was immediately given 1.2 Tempra Drops (he weighs 13 kilos). By 6:00AM, he was okay and we were discharged. I bought the home medication from Mercury outside the hospital. On our way home, as in 15mins into the trip, I heard him wheez and noticed he was having a difficult time breathing. Shocks, not again.

We brought him back to the hospital. Experience taught me that this requires confinement. Lab tests showed he had a mild case of Pneumonia. I was sad coz I thought last year was enough. After 5 days in the hospital (Oct 17-21), he was discharged and advised to continue medication at home. The nurses and doctors adore him coz he is such a cutie, waving hello, making beautiful eyes and the flying kiss.

This is his 3rd confinement for the year (sob). He's been sooo exposed to the hospital scene that I will not be surprised if he chooses a medical field when he grows up. "Attention Dr. Carlos Silvestre, to the NICU please" hehe. In the meantime, much care is needed so that he wont be hospitalized again.

His home medications are:
Ventolin nebulization - every 6 hours for 4 days (8am-2pm-8pm-2am)
Prednisolone - once a day (8am)
Himox drops (amoxicillin) - three times a day for 4 days (8am-2pm-8pm)

Body of Lies

Keith and I had another moviedate and this time we watched Body of Lies, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.

The story is nothing new. It revolved around the war on Iraq, and how to stop it. Watch out for Mark Strong. He is really good and his business suits are sooo ganda. Oh, and his name in the film is - Hani. Natatawa tlaga ako when Leonardo calls him /Hunny/ hehehe! The movie was okay, but I have to say I liked Leonardo DiCaprio better in the 2006 film, The Departed.

Instead of our usual movie snack na Burger King, I got us Chef d Angelo one whole pizza, KFC fries and Nestea Iced tea. It made the movie experience much more enjoyable! Til next time! :)
